Faith Communities

Our nation is graying.  Aging worshippers and their families often turn to their faith communities for spiritual support and direction as they face issues related to aging, illness and caregiving.  They find strength, hope and guidance there.

But they often need other support as well, such as practical advice on available services and benefits.  These are needs which clergy and faith community leaders may not have the training, experience or time to meet, no matter how much they want to help.

Our Faith Communities Support Program is designed to help centers of worship reach out to members who are struggling with aging and caregiving issues.  We can help seniors and family caregivers find the information and services they need to meet their challenges.

Choose from our services to meet the needs of your congregation:

• Knowledgeable, caring resource staff available to answer caregiving questions for your clergy, staff, members and their families
• Live or on-line education on aging and caregiving issues for clergy, deacons, Stephen ministers, members and their families
• Referrals to local senior care professionals, social service agencies and benefit programs
• Caregiver support groups (live or on-line)
• Assessment re: the accessibility and safety of your worship home for older and disabled members and staff
• Medical ethics consultations for families struggling with difficult medical and long-term care decisions
• Elder mediation for families in conflict over aging- or care-related issues
• Assistance with health fairs or senior/caregiver conferences
• Educational articles on aging and caregiving for your newsletter and web site
