Come learn more this Thursday, March 31, about Alzheimer’s research and caregiving at the annual spring symposium in Fort Worth.  The conference is designed for both health care professionals and family caregivers.

This year’s keynote speaker is Creighton Phelps, Ph.D., Director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Centers Programs, Division of Neuroscience, National Institute on Aging, National Institutes of Health.  He is currently coordinating a project involving the National Institute on Aging and the Alzheimer’s Association to redefine diagnostic criteria for Alzheimer’s disease, mild cognitive impairment and preclinical states of neurodegenerative diseases.  His morning talk will be:  “Inside Washington:  National Trends in Alzheimer’s Disease.”  After lunch, he will present:  “The Keys to Unlocking Alzheimer’s:  Redefining Alzheimer’s Disease”.

Responding to Unpredictable Behavior by Mustafa Husain, MD

Understanding the Types and Benefits of Clinical Trials by Sam Brinkman, PHD

Preparing for Late Stage Alzheimer’s by Amy Moss, DO

Understanding the Differences in Medicaid, Medicare and VA Benefits by Rick Weaver, JD

Parenting your Parent:  The Adult Child Perspective (panel discussion moderated by Kim Bell, MA LPC, with adult child caregiver panelists Patrick Main, Libby Afflerbach, Tina Coleman and Ed Amaya)
